Network module supply

Modules are how modular hardware grows: uplink modules that take a switch from gigabit to 10G, line cards that add ports to a chassis, interface boards that give a carrier router its 10G faces. Every module in this section is quoted against its host model.

Module range

The range includes a 16-port 10GE module for the Catalyst 6800 class, 4-port gigabit and 4/8-port 10GE network modules for the 3850 and 9300 switch classes, interface cards from the second switching family, and carrier-router boards — including a 6-port 10GBase LAN/WAN SFP+ flexible card for the NE40E X3/X8/X16 classes.

The host-model rule

A module number without its host is half a specification. Every module inquiry should name the host switch or router model and the slot it will occupy; the reply confirms fit before quoting. This one habit eliminates the most common module return: the right card for the wrong chassis generation.

Questions buyers ask

Can modules be ordered without the host switch?

Yes — spares and upgrades are common module orders; the host model is still required for the fit check.

Do uplink modules include their optics?

Optics are separate lines; state the link list and both are quoted together.
